Depart this special VIP event with a take home gift in memory of this experimental premiere, based on the real life local stories of the Mount Martha Sea Wolves, made possible by MorningtonPeninsula Shire and Flinders Fringe Festival. This event made possible by Community Partners: Peninsula Fresh Seafood, Bass and Flinders, Rahona Wines, Donna Maria and biscuits by Ellie.
‘Sea Wolves Howl’, written and performed by local artist Carole Patullo and creative collaborators Jane Bayly and Yoni Prior.
The new theatrical piece weaves together text, song and movement, and will be brought to the stage by seasoned local and Melbourne actors including Jane Bayly, and Kelly Nash, and with music by local composer John Thorn.
The performance is inspired by the Mount Martha Sea Wolves, an intrepid intergenerational group of up to 60 Mornington Peninsula-based women and non-binary people, who meet on Mount Martha beach every morning at dawn. They enter the sea, join hands, howl like wolves, and plunge into the often freezing water. It is a transformative ritual that takes place 365 days a year.
‘Sea Wolves Howl’ was commissioned by the Flinders Fringe Festival and made possible with funding from Mornington Peninsula Shire Performing Arts Development Grant 2023/24.
