House with a Sunken Garden by Olive Weeks
House with a Sunken Garden is an exploration of the desire to nurture an oasis for the self to exist in. It is a tender and enlightening ode to love, loss of self, and recovery. Recounting vivid memories and fleeting moments, the performer weaves lyrical poetry, song and candid monologue. Visceral language blurs the line between body and space; the emotional and the physical. Together, Weeks and the audience cultivate an intimate relationship, teaching each other how to ‘hold your own’ through momentary brokenness.
