Opera Closets

OPERA CLOSETS is an original, performance piece written and performed by multi award-winning Australian mezzo soprano Dimity Shepherd, where every outfit tells a story and every story has a song. As one of Australia’s most celebrated and versatile opera stars, Shepherd has worked with all major Australian opera houses and orchestras, with experience that ranges from traditional and avant-garde opera to concert repertoire.
Opera Closets showcases this extraordinary artist’s wide-ranging musical passion and creativity through a selection of her favourite musical pieces and original songs. Traversing folk, pop and jazz and opera, Dimity describes Opera Closets as ‘style and celebration with the soul undressed’.
Joining Dimity for this return performance is the Persephone Project, a chamber trio featuring string queens Helen Mountfort and Hope Csutoros, and superb pianist Phillipa Safey.
Directed by theatre legend Richard Piper, this is a Frock Opera you don’t want to miss!
